Final Push for Construction

January 15, 2017 | Keith Crain

Hello everyone,

I was asked to write an update on the final days of the construction project at Jackson Road. It is hard to believe we are a week away from having our very first service in our new Auditorium! As we I am writing this on Friday morning there is already a flurry of activity in the building as everyone is pushing hard to open the Auditorium on Saturday, January 21st.

In the new office space, the construction is essentially complete. And the new space is amazing! For the first time in years, there is room for all the staff – and we are in the same area! The amount of natural light is great; the cubicles are incredibly functional and our new phone system works very well. The staff consensus is that everyone enjoys their new space and are more productive. There are still things that need to be completed over the next few weeks, but nearly everyone is now in their new permanent home. I said nearly everyone because Matt LaFree is patiently waiting for his office to be completed. He will go in the space Pastor Mark formerly occupied, but that area is under construction to create a hallway connecting the old offices to the new. Pastors Clint and Steve’s old offices are also being renovated into a new meeting room.

The new Auditorium is amazing! Earlier this week DJ completed the construction phase of the project. This leaves our AVL (Audio, Video, and Lighting) vendor to complete their work. I’m not going to lie – I have no idea what they are doing, but they do, so all is good! They are running what seems to be miles of cabling, configuring computers, installing equipment in racks, hanging acoustic panels and just doing their thing. Next week they will begin the testing and tuning of all the equipment. I can’t wait for us to move in!

As for what is still to come, there are going to be tons of little things to attend to, but the next major item is the renovation of Atrium and the construction of the Chapel (what we have been calling "Auditorium C"). That work begins in earnest on January 23rd. Once that is completed we will have a new home for South Door Venue, a roomier Atrium and more places for the community to happen at the church. It is incredibly exciting to see all these plans come into reality.

Finally, I want to thank everyone involved in the project to date. The staff at The Vineyard who are settling into their new workspaces – through all the noise, dust and disruption, I have never heard a complaint about being inconvenienced. The talented team at DJ Construction and the dozens of subcontractors have been amazing to work with! And finally, thanks to everyone that is, and will be, participating in the REACH campaign. While the new spaces are great, that is not the important part. The important part is the number of people that will come to know Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior because of these projects!
