Read, reflect, and be encouraged...

Matthew 11 gives us insight into Jesus and John the Baptist. Jesus tells us that John is the one who was prophesied about, the one who would prepare the way before Him.

 Matthew 11:10 (NIV)

"This is the one about whom it is written: 'I will send my messenger ahead of you, who will prepare your way before you.'"

Verse 18 shows us that John fasted. He was a man who was uniquely called by God to prepare the way for Jesus, and he fasted in the preparation.

For John came neither eating nor drinking…

While John was called and placed in a unique time in history, he modeled this, and we can imitate it. As we fast, we prepare the way for Jesus to minister during Chasing God. We fast and we prepare the way.
