2025 Honduras Mission Trip Day 1
July 16, 2025 | Lee Stanton
The Honduras team—14 individuals strong—kicked off the journey bright and early at 2:00 AM to board a bus headed for O'Hare Airport. Our flight departed at 6:00 AM, with a layover in Miami, and we finally arrived in San Pedro Sula around 12:30 PM.
We were welcomed with open arms at the airport by Josh, Amy, and Mike from World Compassion Network, as well as Pastor Arqui and Pastor Nelson. Their warm reception was the perfect start to what promises to be an impactful and inspiring week.
We proceeded to our hotel in El Progreso, where we had a quick moment to unpack and go over the schedule for the week. Shortly after, we piled back onto the bus and headed to a church service at Pastor Nelson's church.
It was a powerful way to begin our trip—worshiping together, praying together, and even hearing a few team members share their testimonies with the congregation. The sense of unity and purpose was felt by all.
During our team meeting, Josh spoke about the power of the Holy Spirit. His prayer for us this week is that we would truly listen—to be attentive to what the Holy Spirit is speaking and showing us.
There was a moment during the church service where that message came to life. As we prayed over the families and children of the church, we could see the Holy Spirit begin to move, it was a powerful experience. You could feel God's presence in the room—the energy, the emotion, the unmistakable movement of His Spirit.
We ended the night surrounded by love—receiving heartfelt hugs from everyone in the church and sharing a meal together (Papa John’s!). One of our team members even said, "Those were the best hugs I’ve ever received."
Truly, what a great first day. A powerful, Spirit-filled start to what we know will be a life-changing week.
