2025 North Carolina Mission Trip Day 2
October 21, 2025 | Cora Buss
Today began with a wonderful breakfast and devotional with another group that is also serving here. Afterwards, some of our team went back down in the host church’s basement to do some more organization and purchased shelves from Lowe’s to help with that. The team did a lot of hard work to make room for the shelves and to move the materials. This was a major step in their mission to clean and organize the basement. This accessibility of the resources, for current and future groups, will speed up actually getting to the mission field. It is a pleasure to help our host Pastor and church, as they faithfully & consistently serve so many!
The rest of the group went back to Carl’s house in order to help him restore his home and give him some peace after working on it for a long and stressful year. They started the process of replacing water-damaged items. First, the team removed kitchen cabinets and then took down the living room wall. Some people were really handy with a crowbar & sledgehammer! At the same time, a mini team (AKA The Under Dwellers) volunteered to crawl under Carl’s house to remove debris and wood that had come to rest underneath their home as the flood waters receded. This prepares the way for plumbing repairs to be completed and for the next team to reinstall the HVAC system. The team was also able to clean yard debris and restore their patio set so they can enjoy the home they love by the creek (it is so beautiful out here). All volunteers made Carl, and his wife Trish, feel seen and cared for. They were extremely grateful. The small acts of kindness made all the difference. Tons of work is getting done with tons of love.
Each person on our team is showing the love of Jesus to each other and everyone they encounter. On the drive up, we prayed over our waiter. We prayed over Carl and Trish and were there to listen and help them process. We pray for each other daily.
We work and pray, and God is moving and making the way!
