2025 North Carolina Mission Trip Day 3
October 22, 2025 | Joyce Moe
Day 3 was full of progress on many practical and spiritual levels.
First, under-dwellers, Steve and Ryan, braved the wild to insulate under Carl and Trisha’s mobile home with Cora and Ralph’s assistance. At the same time Gabe, Todd, and Jason installed the new kitchen cabinets
Amanda & Caylie shopped for supplies while Tara, Victoria, Sue, and Kaley crossed the finish line of organizing the tools, equipment and supplies in the Church basement. They did such an extraordinary job that church staff inspected and complimented their work all day long.
Maggie was the champion of floor & upholstery cleaning, tackling at least 30 chairs. Meanwhile, I succeeded in breaking two carpet cleaners while trying to finish the floor in one small bedroom. Gratefully, the pastor was very kind and forgiving.
After the Church crew finished our labors, Amanda led us in a lesson about hearing God’s voice. Then we practiced what we’d learned by asking God for words, pictures, or other forms of revelation that would help us identify people God wanted to interact with at the grocery store. All of us received direction that we used to meet and pray with people at Food Lion. It was great fun and encouraging to share God’s heart and mind with strangers-to-us whom He greatly loves and cares for. We also gave bouquets to Mary and Marcia, our two sweet chefs, who rewarded us with tears, genuine smiles, homemade cookies, and 4 different kinds of ice cream for dessert.
Finally, Curtis shared a letter from a U.S. Senator to our host church pastor commending his and his congregation’s remarkable 'faith in action' leadership and service to countless community members after Hurricane Helene. What an honor it is for us to help honor and support this selfless church!
