Pastor John called our Vineyard team all up front and introduced us to the congregation. He asked each of us to stand before the Church community and introduce ourselves. We all had an opportunity to share.
After the Service, Drew, Jack, and I had an opportunity to baptize members of the congregation who wanted to be baptized. We walked over a mile Lake Victoria. For me, it was hand in hand with some of the young children. When we got to the lake (which is an African Great Lake and the start of the Nile River) Jack and Drew teamed up to baptize congregation members, and I was with Pastor John.
It was an amazing experience and the first time that I have ever baptized anyone. Pastor John told me that I did fine. :) Jack and Drew baptized at least 8 members and it was an amazing experience for them too. I found myself being emotional over the entire experience.
We returned to the Mission house and had another fabulous meal prepared for us. We tried some of the traditional local foods and a corn dish that the students at Nkumba school eat for lunch, according to Pastor John's wife, Esther. We ended the day going to the Entebbe Zoo. It was an exceptional bonding time with some students and Nkumba Church staff.
This has been an amazing experience. The need here is so great. The children and families are so welcoming of our visit here. Personally, I love the children. They are some of the brightest children I have ever been around. Many of them are now calling me "Pappy" which is what my grandchildren call me.
We are now getting ready for Dinner. Afterwards, we will debrief and sing some worship music. Peace and Love to all!
