Uganda Mission Trip Day 5

September 16, 2025 | Drew Marlow

Good evening from Uganda!

Our morning started a bit extra early to start with a morning devotion and coffee time with Wilbard, a member of the church here. After we finished our coffee, we jumped right into morning chores aiding our hosts in upkeep on their beautiful property. We then came in and shared a second morning devotion where we shared our collective ‘happies’ as a group.

We finished breakfast and set out on a journey to visit the students at Nkumba Christian School in class on their second day of school! They blessed us in each class with a unique class introduction and song. It was heart-moving and beautiful. We traded questions and shared sweets from home with them!

Following our first school visit, we went on two more home visits and got the opportunity to pray for these students and their beautiful families. On our travels out, we ran into another student and were able to pray with him, As we prayed, we witnessed the Lord’s provision in his life as 20.000 UGX (shillings) which is equivalent to around 6 USD - was found on the ground by the team — a blessing to our friend!

Lunch time came and went - we transitioned, quickly, into chapel time with the students and shared a few words of prayer, scripture and worship. Afterwards, we followed the children over for an exciting tribal dance welcome! I can’t tell you how loaded this day was - it was such a blessing. We did more with the students. The team shared recess with the students and it was sheer chaotic joy!

After sending the students home and picking up our gear, we went to see their new dining facilities. The Vineyard Church was blessed to be able to help support them in this journey to build the new facility. We prayed over the building and praised the Lord for the work He is doing in this community.

To conclude our night, we are joining our wonderful hosts for a wonderful tilapia fish dinner! Tonight will be filled with a lot of ‘happies’ to bless our debrief meeting.

“Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice!” Philippians 4:4
 Rejoice with us tonight!
